A guide on cohabitation now available

A first Canadian guide on cohousing, written in French, was launched on October 14 during a webinar bringing together a hundred participants, interested parties, and project promoters in the housing sector. The guide was developed by Village Urbain in collaboration with Cohabitat Nidazo, La Friche Solidaire, CôToît-cohabitat Gaspé, and Village Vital.

The imposing work of more than 200 pages is now available in PDF format.

The meeting on October 14 brought together the collaborators of the guide: Charleine Coulombe, Simon Mammone and Justine Bouvier (Village Urbain), Louise Larivière (Village Vital), Hélène Sactouris (Cohabitat Nidazo), Stéphane Brochu (CôToît-co-habitat Gaspé) and Gabriel Blanchet (La Friche Solidaire). Jonathan Fleury from the Centre de transformation du logement communautaire (the CENTRE) moderated the meeting.

Nidazo, CôToît, the Friche and Village VITAL were able to present their respective projects and highlight the co-housing in rural environments while naming the challenges of realizing such projects in the region.

The Guide du cohabitat lists what can be brought to the vitality of rural communities: more diverse housing, ties of mutual aid, and new ways of sharing resources and spaces. Absolutely must-read!
